What Each Service Charges Right Now
How much does Netflix cost?
Netflix’s help page lists three plans. Standard with ads is $8.99 a month, Standard is $19.99, and Premium is $26.99 with 4K and four screens. Netflix says the Basic plan has been discontinued. Adding a member from outside your home costs $7.99 with ads or $9.99 without.
What do Disney+ and Hulu cost?
Disney sells the two as a bundle. The ad-supported version is $12.99 a month. The Premium version, which removes ad breaks from most movies and series, is $21.99. A six-month plan trims $1 off each. Adding HBO Max starts at $21.99, and ESPN Unlimited starts at $35.99.
What does HBO Max cost?
HBO Max has three tiers. Basic With Ads is $10.99 a month, Standard is $18.49, and Premium is $22.99 with 4K. Paying yearly is cheaper.
What does Peacock cost?
Peacock’s Select plan is $8.99 and leaves out sports, movies, and Originals. Premium is $12.99. Premium Plus is $19.99 and mostly drops ads. Annual plans are pitched as 12 months for the price of 10.
What does Paramount+ cost?
Paramount+ has two plans. Essential is $8.99 with ads. Premium is $13.99 and is ad-free except for live TV. Downloads need Premium.
What does Apple TV cost?
Apple TV is $14.99 a month after a free seven-day trial, Apple says. Buy a new Apple device and you get three months free if you redeem the offer within 90 days.
Where do live sports fit in?
Peacock Premium at $12.99 is the cheapest way to get live sports in this group. HBO Max shows them on Standard and Premium. The Disney bundle with ESPN Unlimited costs the most.
How should you compare streaming prices?
Ads are the big swing. Skipping them costs $11 more on Netflix and $11 more on Peacock. Picture quality is next, since only the top tier on Netflix and HBO Max gets 4K. Bundles help too, because streaming prices can drop if you already pay for two services from the same company.
Editor’s Take
Streaming prices add up fast. The cheapest plan on every service here comes to $65.94 a month before tax. That’s Netflix with ads, the Disney+ and Hulu bundle, HBO Max Basic, Peacock Select, Paramount+ Essential, and Apple TV. Nobody needs all six at once.
Netflix bills monthly and has no annual plan, so it’s the easiest to pause between shows. HBO Max and Peacock reward staying, with yearly plans that cut the bill.
