Amazon’s new Echo is smaller, sounds better, and costs less

At a surprise press event in Seattle, Amazon took the wraps off their new Echo device. The device has received some love both inside and outside. The new smart speaker is different from its predecessor. It is shorter, and packs several variety of features that will make you fall in love with it even more. Best part is, the cost of the device is less than the previous Echo launch.

The new Echo comes packed with a 2.5-inch woofer, a dedicated tweeter, far-field microphone technology, and supports Dolby Digital audio. Introducing everyone to the shells for the Echo, the company unveiled six new shells at the event, such as fabric and wood veneer to match rooms of your home.

Talking more about more features for the Echo, it finally supports multi-room audio, meaning you will be able to stream to multiple devices simultaneously. This especially is an interesting addition because Sono and Apple are both set to launch their own new smart speaker systems in the coming months. Amazon is bringing new features forward right away (playing the Samsung card?) and see what they have to offer, seeing as the holiday season is right around the corner.

Echo owners will be able to make free calls to the US, Mexico, and Canada with Alexa. The new Amazon Echo is available today on the company website for $99. There is also a  3-pack that will run you $250.
