Amazon Music With Ads Is Free For Alexa Owners

Last week, there was speculation that Amazon is looking to introduce a free, ad-supported tier for its music streaming service. Those rumors were true because Amazon Alexa owners are in for a treat.

Amazon has announced that Alexa device owners in the US will be able to listen to top playlists and stations on Amazon music for free, even if you aren’t a subscriber of Amazon Prime. There will be ads while you listen to your music because it’s an ad-supported service.

Through the ad-supported service, listeners will be able to ask Alexa to play music through creating stations based on a song, artist, era or genre. Alexa will then queue up popular global playlists on Amazon Music ready for you to listen. In the free tier, music availability is limited, similar to the two million songs that Amazon Prime members have access to for free.

If you are interested in listening to unlimited songs, Amazon Music Unlimited is available. The paid tier allows for access to more than 50 million songs.

Surprised? Not really.

It does not come as a surprise that Amazon launched an ad-supported only for Alexa-speaker owners. The company is trying to leverage the popularity of its smart speakers. At the same time, Alexa-powered hardware owners are able to enjoy free music, even if its supported by ads. There is no cost to it for you, as long as you are the owner of an Alexa device.
