Amazon to hold a surprise hardware event today

Amazon will be holding a surprise hardware event today in Seattle. The company is expected to announce the new Alexa-powered device and perfect timing too, ahead of the holiday season. The event is expected to kick off at 1:30PM ET / 10:30AM PT and The Jolt Journal we will be providing with all of the details as it unravels.

Since introducing a white version of the Alexa-powered speaker last year, the company has not announced any refresh to its hardware lineup. Even recent price drops of current devices has hinted that there is a refresh coming, and it could very well be announced today.

Right now, the existing Eco speaker is “unavailable” on the company’s online store. This is somewhat expected since the company could launch the new devices today and will be available for purchase after the event.

In addition to the new refreshed speaker, the company may also announced a new Fire TV set-top box with Alexa integration, and a refreshed Fire TV Stick that will better compete with the likes of competitors such as Google’s Chromecast.

Once the event starts, we will begin to report all the latest offerings by Amazon as it unravels. Stay tuned and be sure to check back starting 1:30PM ET / 10:30AM PT.
