Tesla partners with Home Depot to sell solar panels and Powerwalls

Tesla is about to find out how much the average consumer is interested in solar power. According to a report from Bloomberg, Tesla is bringing photovoltaic panels and Powerwall batteries to US retailer Home Depot. Tesla will installed company-branded selling spaces at 800 Home Depot locations, with its own employees working the space to explain the benefits of the products.

Sources have said that Tesla may bring the highly-anticipated solar roof to the retailer, which generates electricity but will look and cost like a regular roof (a high end roof, that is).

Previously, Home Depot worked with Solar City, which Tesla bought into its own brand back in mid-2016. None of those products were on display back then, but now, solar panels and Powerwalls will be shown via high-visibility, 12 feet high by seven feet wide displays at Home Depot. Depending in the location, some will even display a visual exhibit on how the technology works.

In Europe, IKEA brought a lot of mainstream attention to solar power due to its name and large distribution network. However, it was never brought to North American and other companies have failed to generate the same type of buzz in the US. Tesla on the other hand is a different company that has quite the buzz in the US and is fully capable of bringing attention to the market. Bringing its products to Home Depot locations is bound to bring a lot of attention to those products, and will even bring Tesla fans to Home Depot as well.
