delivery times have been extended by one month for tesla model 3

Tesla’s long-promised $35,000 Model 3 went on sale not too long ago, and the company is already seeing backlog. The company has extended US delivery times for the base model of Model 3 by a full month, so if you were planning to order the EV, you’re going to have to wait a bit.

The Model 3’s new orders will be arriving in six to eight weeks instead of the original two to four that were previously stated. If you want the Model 3 sooner, you’ll have to opt for the $37,000 Standard Range Plus variant.

In a statement to Electrek, Tesla’s spokesperson said delivery times are adjusted “based on order volume.” This essentially means that the Model 3 is in high demand, so it’s going to take Tesla more time to fulfill all current orders before proceeding to deliver new ones. It took about a week for interest to outdo the expected supply.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise. The company’s base level Model 3 has been highly anticipated for quite some time now. Elon Musk warned that large-scale production wouldn’t be ready until the middle of 2019, so delays are to be expected here and there, for now.
