Ahead of Mobile World Congress 2019, Oppo has taken the wraps off its new camera system that will come in their future smartphones beginning second quarter of 2019. Oppo’s 10x lossless zoom technology works to utilize three camera modules that all work together.
The main camera is a 48-megapixel that will serve your daily needs of capturing photos. The second camera is a 16mm, 120-degree wide-angle lens that’s designed to bring more details and refinement in the pictures you’re taking. The telephoto lens is the last lens with a focal length of 160mm, and is set up in a ‘periscope’ manner. The sensor works in a way where the prism light reflects at 90 degrees onto it and at the same time stabilizing the image the more its zoomed in. Oppo says that the new setup will help users with improved image precision up to 73%.
This is quite impressive from Oppo and they are proud of themselves too because the triple-camera module is just 6.76mm thick. Oppo also limited its volume by packaging the autofocus motors for the top two cameras together into one space. This means that everything is neatly and tightly packed, and no excuse for not bringing features like NFC and headphone jack.
Oppo’s 10x lossless zoom technology and lenses are quite nice, but at the same event, Oppo also briefly snuck a preview at its upcoming 5G smartphone. Oppo’s new smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chipset, and added that it will be working with Swisscom, Telstra, Optus and SingTel for pushing out 5G services. While talking about the new smartphone, Oppo brought out Qualcomm’s president Cristiano Amon to go on stage and talk a bit about 5G technology.
