Apple Music has surpassed 30 million subscribers

According to Billboard, Apple Music has passed the 30 million subscriber mark. The streaming service has managed to pick up 10 million subscribers since December, and 3 million subscribers since WWDC this past June.

While the most popular streaming service right now is Spotify, Apple Music has been able to keep up with pace of growth. On average, Apple Music has been able to get about 15 million subscribers per year, compared to 20 million for Spotify over the past two years.

Jimmy Iovine has realized that at this rate, it will be hard for Apple Music to catch up to Spotify. Iovine told Billboard that “Just because we’re adding millions of subscribers and the old catalog numbers are going up, that’s not the trick. That’s just not going to hold.”

The company is working hard to build closer and better relationships with labels and artists to use exclusive content like documentaries, better advertising, and interviews. Apple Music still has plenty left to offer and the team at Apple is working hard everyday to catch up to Spotify.
