Surrounded by allegations, Kevin Spacey has found himself in hot water. House of Cards actor Kevin Spacey will no longer be working as an actor with Netflix, at all. The company has decided to cut all ties with the actor.

In a statement to The Verge, a Netflix spokesperson said: “Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey. We will continue to work with MRC [HoC production company Media Rights Capital] during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show. We have also decided we will not be moving forward with the release of the film Gore, which was in post-production, starring and produced by Kevin Spacey.”

Given how important and central Spacey’s character, congressman Frank Underwood, is to the show, future direction is unclear. House of Cards is in its sixth season shooting. The future of the show is up for debate as Netflix cuts ties with Kevin Spacey.

It’s highly likely that producers will alter the scripts to have Underwood killed off or move the character out of sight and have other characters come into spotlight more.

Spacey’s response to the allegation, from actor Anthony Rapp, has been that he doesn’t “remember the encounter,” and that “If I did behave the way he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior.” Interestingly enough, he also came out as gay at the same time, a move that was an attempt to divert attention from the allegation.

Right now, it seems that production for House of Cards is suspended. Netflix suspended production for the show to figure out the best course of action for both the streaming company and show’s production company.
