Lyft partners with Hitch Health for non-urgent medical appointments

Lyft has been the go-to choice for non-emergency medical trips and now the company has a new partner. The company has announced a new partnership with Hitch Health that will offer Lyft rides to health care appointments across the US.

The concept behind Lyft non-urgent medical appointments is the same, but there’s a small twist: Hitch offers technology that can identify the patients most likely will need a ride. In a 6-month trial run, the partnership between the two companies focused on low-income, uninsured and vulnerable patients that weren’t able to safely drive themselves, ask a friend or even take the bus.

Much like Lyft’s other partnerships, patients aren’t required to have a smartphone or even a credit card for that matter. In Hitch’s case, riders will get a text message offering a pickup for their appointments.

This new deal is further expanding Lyft’s initiative in medical transportation. The company is working hard to match Uber in as many fronts as possible and as quickly as possible. Uber had a disastrous 2017 and Lyft took great advantage of that through expansion of its own operations. While Lyft’s concept may not be the most original, but we can’t necessarily complain that they’re working hard to bring improvements where they’re needed.
