In fourth quarter earnings results, Netflix added 8.3 million customers

Netflix may see increasing competition, but the company’s growth isn’t slowing down anytime soon. The company just announced its fourth quarter earnings results, and said that it added 8.3 million customers worldwide, “the highest Warner in our history and up 18 percent vs. last year’s record 7.05 million.”

Will Smith-starring movie Bright may not have been the most popular among critics, the company was happy with the movie, and added that it’s one of the most viewed titles every and drove a “notable” amount in customer acquisition. Because of the success it saw, the company said that it plans to invest more in original films, as well as more international content following its first German original series, Dark.

Netflix now has over 110 million paying subscribers worldwide, with 52 million in the United States. The company’s letter suggested that it will continue everything as planned, invest more money in original content, have second seasons for The Punisher and Mindhunter.

The letter, however, did not mention anything about Kevin Spacey or Danny Masterson by name, but noted that “We took a $39m non-cash charge in Q4 for unreleased content we’ve decided not to move forward with,” without specifically referring to what it was directed at.
