Things don’t look too good for Apple’s iPhone X launch

You’ve been eagerly waiting to get your hands on the iPhone X, right? Well, we’ve got some good and bad news for you. Apple plans to start taking preorders for the iPhone X next Friday, October 27th, and will be released the following week on November 3rd. The iPhone X is Apple’s highly anticipated and attracted phone since the previous redesigned phone introduced three years ago. Even though the cost of the phone starts at $1,000, many are still eagerly waiting for it.

All of this hype is good, but the chances of you getting your hands on the iPhone X are slim to none. The iPhone X launch and the demand for the phone will be a problem for Apple and customers alike, because a new report issued by an Apple inside states that the launch of iPhone X is going to be a nightmare.

KGI Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is well-known and widely known for covering Apple. His track record speaks for itself. This time around, however, he issued a note to clients that brings some bad news.

The Jolt Journal

Here’s pretty much what he says: There a high chance of you not getting an iPhone X on launch day.

The analyst says that Apple’s suppliers are still having incredible problems with certain key components of the iPhone X. Now that we’ve got the bad news out of the way, here’s some good news: those issues are being worked on and will be resolved very soon. Since these problems have occurred for quite some time, this means that the supply chains will no where near be ready to meet the demand of the iPhone X.

“Special materials, recipes, design, processes, equipments and tests are required for antenna FPCB, as the specifications for iPhone X antenna (supplied by Amphenol (US)) are higher than those of iPhone 8 and only Murata (JP) and Career Tech (6153 TT, NT$30.1, NR) can meet Apple’s requirements,” Kuo writes in his note. “Murata (originally with a 60% order allocation or higher) won’t be able to resolve its issues before 2Q18, and thus has been fully replaced by second supplier Career. We believe Career will ramp up in November, as capacity expansion takes time, and its materials, recipes, design, processes, equipments and tests are different from those of Murata.”

It’s pretty bad. According to Kuo, Apple has somewhere between 2 million and 3 million iPhone X units on hand for launch. The chance of you getting your hands on the iPhone X on launch? Very slim. There’s millions of people out there looking to get their hands on the iPhone X and will be left disappointed to see the stock go dry before the even click a button.
