KGI: Apple’s iPhone X will have a black faceplate no matter the casing color

According to well-respected analyst Ming Chi-Kuo of KGI Securities, all iPhone X color options this year may come with a black faceplate no matter what color of the casing. This is to ensure “better aesthetic design.”

This will make for an interesting combination because it will be a major departure from prior silver and gold casings that have only been available with a white faceplate.

Having the faceplate all black does make sense in terms of what Apple is thinking for the design of iPhone X. Apple is cutting out the top of the OLED display, so having an all-black faceplate will make design integration that much easier.

It’s expected that Apple will offer the iPhone X in three color options — Silver, Black, and the new Brush Gold.
