Verizon’s upcoming streaming TV service reportedly delayed until spring 2018

Verizon has been planning to launch its own over-the-top TV service for quite some time now. According to a previous report from Bloomberg, the service was supposed to launch during this past summer. Even Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam confirmed to Variety in May that the company was working on a such service, but it seems like the service is now being delayed.

A new report from Bloomberg tells us that Verizon is now looking at a new release date for the service, sometime around spring 2018. The company is expecting to launch the service in spring 2018, at the earliest.

Verizon has been behind other competitors, and now the service will be even further behind from competitors like YouTube TV, DirecTV Now, and PlayStation Vue. These companies have had a head start for a long time now. Even Bloomberg’s sources claim that Verizon’s service won’t be any different in terms of pricing, so no competitive advantage there. Verizon seems to be betting on its large subscriber reach to get them on-board. This isn’t working out too well for AT&T.
