Twitter to ban most cryptocurrency ads

There were earlier rumors that suggested the company will be banning cryptocurrency ads on its platform. Now, the company has announced plans to ban most cryptocurrency-related ads in the near future.

Twitter’s restrictions will be covering initial coin offerings, crypto wallets and token sales, as well as most crypto exchanges (though with “limited exceptions,” according to Reuters). At this time, there’s no timetable for when ban to go into effect.

The company has previously said that it was preventing cryptocurrency accounts from interacting “in a deceptive manner,” but did not go far enough to put a ban in place. Now the company is taking it as far as it needs to go to protect its users.
