Elon Musk removes SpaceX and Tesla pages from Facebook

You know who joined the #deletefacebook movement? The one and only SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk. Yesterday, in a series of tweeted, Musk wrote that he would delete SpaceX’s Facebook page, as well as Tesla’s page, while he was talking with other Twitter users. You’d think he wouldn’t follow through, right? Wrong. He followed through with what he was saying. He proceeded to remove both company’s pages.

What’s more interesting is that he didn’t even realize the companies had a Facebook presence until now. Both companies will be retaining their Instagram accounts, but he believed they were “borderline” because Facebook’s influence is “slowly creeping in.”

If you head over the Tesla’s and SpaceX’s Facebook pages, they haven’t been technically “deleted.” They aren’t technically gone because if you visit those pages, you will get the “content isn’t available right now” notification, not the usual “page isn’t available.” The latter is what you’d see if the pages were completely deleted. This basically suggests that the pages have been removed from public view, and are more than likely just sitting in draft mode.
