Apparently Jony Ive is not a fan of last year’s iPhone design

Jony Ive is widely known as the iconic designer at Apple. He's designed numerous products at Apple, from the original iMac to the recent iPhone X, and he's even gotten strong hand in designing the company's new spaceship campus.

In a recent interview with Smithsonian Magazine, we learned some interesting things about Ive. He worked closely with the architecture firm that helped transform Steve Jobs' vision of the beautiful Apple campus and brought it to reality. It shouldn't come as a surprise but nearly every aspect of the campus had Ive's input in it.

Setting the campus aside, we learned some more interesting points about the iPhone X from Ive's point of view, as well as thoughts on the previously iPhone models. For the iPhone X, the smartphone represents the idealized version of what a smartphone should feel like and look like. Even before the iPhone X was introduced to the world, Ive said that he wants an iPhone to “appear like a single sheet of glass.” Holding the iPhone X in your hand sure does bring that type of feeling. Ive says that the iPhone X “is something we've aspired to for years.”

Besides the iPhone X, Ive had some words about other iPhone designs as well. Talking about the iPhone 7 Plus, Ive remarked: “It now seems to be rather disconnected component housed in an enclosure.” That's an interesting way of saying things about a model that was just released last year, but it gives you a strong glance at what Ive thinks about the new iPhone X design and where the company is headed with its future iPhones.
