If you’re a college student like me, listen up.  Google recently announced that it’s now offering digital textbooks through its Play Store. The company revealed this during its Nexus 7 unveiling and Chromecast launch event last month.

Those of you who have Android devices such as the Nexus 7 can take full advantage of this.  Through the company’s Play Store, buyers can purchase digital versions of textbooks or you can rent them for a period of six months, which is how long a typical semester is.  This is a huge deal for those trying to save extra bucks on textbooks and also save up to 80% off.

Companies that are in this deal with Google are Pearson, Wiley, Macmillian Higher Education, Random House, McGraw-Hill and Cengage Learning.  Many of these companies are nationwide and have lots of textbooks that are used in almost all colleges around the country.

For payment method, Google Wallet will be used for checkout as this is on the Google platform.  All textbooks you purchase will be stored in the cloud and will be available for viewing during the rent period, or if you’re purchasing the books, then they will be available permanently in the cloud.

College textbooks are already expensive as it is, so why not take advantage of this?
