Google could potentially launch developer preview of Android P in mid-March

You might not have to wait too long to get a glimpse of Google’s next mobile platform. Notorious leaker and well-know source of tech leaks, Evan Blass, tweeted that Google is targeting mid-March release for Android P’s first developer preview. At this time, we don’t exactly know what the “P” will stand for, but since March 14th is Pi Day, some are speculating that Android’s upcoming name might actually be “Pie.”

Previous reports have said that Android P will have the power to prevent idle apps from accessing your camera and mic. That would add extra security measures to protect the user against malware that can record background noise or take images without the user’s consent.

Google’s next platform release will reportedly support notches, something that’s becoming more of a trend lately ever since the iPhone X came out. The one thing to keep in mind is that it apparently won’t have a dark mode like earlier rumors have suggested and will instead feature a toggle that will make it easier for developers to test night mode for their apps. Once Google releases P’s first developer preview, we will know whether some of these are true or not, and what other things Google has in store for us.
