Dish and CBS settle on undisclosed terms after Thanksgiving NFL blackout

For many Dish subscribers, you may have noticed an NFL blackout in your area, meaning no traditional NFL on Thanksgiving. This may be an unforgivable sin to some, but both Disk and CBS have come to an agreement to settle the dispute and restore services to subscribers that were affected by the blackout.

Both Dish and CBS have reached a multi-year deal after a blackout on CBS programming to two million subscribers occurred for almost three days in a row. The deal will cover networks such as CBS, CBS Sports Network, Smithsonian, and Pop. While terms of the deal were not disclosed, Dish said that services are being restored to customers as we speak.

“We are grateful to our customers for their patience this holiday week as months of work has resulted in a deal that delivers CBS for years to come,” said Warren Schlichting, executive vice president of marketing, programming, and media sales.

The standoff between to companies reportedly occurred when CBS wanted Dish to bundle its modestly rated channels in with the main CBS channel, and this is something Dish was quite hesitant to do. These channels are Smithsonian, Pop, and CBS Sports Network. The deal does come late since there are many unhappy customers and you can see from some of the tweets below.
