Report: Kevin Durant is investing $10 million in program to help kids go to college

Kevin Durant is making headlines again and this time, he’s taking advantage of his established partnerships with public schools in his hometown of Prince George’s County, Maryland. Durant wants to help disadvantaged students attend college.

According to Thomas Heath of the Washington Post, Durant has invested $10 million in College Track, a 10-year program that’s designed to guide and support students through their education. The Durant Center chapter is expected to open sometime this year.

“I want them to see the world,” Durant told Heath. “I want them to see where people are from and see that there are things outside their world. I don’t know exactly or at what pace that they will get it, but there is a world outside that they need to see.” According to Heath, Durant’s College Track brand will be the first to operate on the East Coast.

“We didn’t have the resources to get our minds thinking about the next level,” Durant said. “I want to do my part, whatever it is. If College Track students want to be the next Steve Jobs or the next influencer or the next tastemakers, they can get there.”
