‘PUBG’ has a new record of three million simultaneous players

Coming out of beta, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) has really seen further success. The game today shattered its previous concurrent-players record by more than doubling it (via Polygon). It peaked at 3,106,358 yesterday morning, according to Steam, Valve’s game-selling platform.

As of this month, PUBG had about 25 million players on PC overall. Comparing this to September 2017, the game peaked at 1,342,857 concurrent players. Before 2018 even comes, the game has managed to shatter its previous record by more than doubling the player count. Quite impressive, to say the least.

While PUBG is performing quite well, who is the closest competitor to the game’s recent numbers? The free-to-play Dota 2 (again), with 704,938 players. Comparing this to PUBG, the game amassed over a million players on Xbox One on its first 4 hours it launched on the console a few weeks ago.
