NBA game recaps are making their way to Facebook Watch

Report Summary: NBA signs a two-year lucrative streaming deal with Facebook. The social media giant will host watch parties for NBA, WNBA, NBA G League and NBA 2K eSports League.

Official highlights of the NBA are making their way to Facebook. The social media and the NBA inked a two-year deal that allows stream recaps of the games on the Watch tab. Per the agreement, it will cover all four of the NBA’s leagues: NBA, WNBA, NBA G League and the NBA 2K eSports league. In addition, recaps from the Summer League, preseason, and playoffs will also be available to watch.

On Facebook, the NBA will host a watch party hoping league fans will tune in to watch recaps and other videos in real time and discuss about them. This also extends to WNBA, NBA G League and NBA 2K League by having their own watch parties, but will only take place on a monthly basis.

Through Facebook, NBA will have a great reach of over 400 million followers across many different players, teams and league pages. This lucrative deal will allow NBA to further expand its reach and continue to grow through the leadership of Adam Silver. Under Silver, the NBA has thrived continuously, increasing revenue from $4.8 billion to $9.1 billion in five years.

Besides NBA, Facebook also offers (or may soon offer) MLB games, PGA Tour Events, NFL highlights, Premier League soccer matches and a WWE show. Adding NBA to this list of offering increases benefits for both the basketball league and Facebook.
