When Android P arrives, Samsung plans to drop its mobile movie editor

Samsung phones have had a built-in Mobile Maker app for quite a long time that allows them to edit their clips and spice them up. Since there so many third-party options out there that may offer a much better experience, Samsung has decided to drop support for its Movie Maker app.

If you take a look at the latest version of Movie Maker app, it warns users that the app will “no longer be provided” when the Android P update arrives. Even though the release for Android P will be a while, Samsung’s release of Android P will likely take even longer. Samsung is warning that it will delete all projects at that point, so make sure to save all of your work before the cutoff date.

We’re unsure as to why Samsung has decided to abandon the Movie Maker app or if it plans to bring something better in the future. Perhaps it’s due to lack of popularity? Compatibility issues? Partnering with a third-party company? We don’t have a definite answer yet, but we’ll know more as we get closer to the cut-off date.
