By 2020, all Ford vehicles will come built-in with 4G LTE

Ford's vision for its future is electric, assisted driving and connectivity. The means by 2020, the company's entire lineup will have 4G LTE connectivity and have Wave navigation built-in at a system level.

Speaking specifically about the former, it means that all aspects of a vehicle can be updated over the air instead of just the Sync platform. Talking about the latter, that's a bid to make the roads safer by decreasing distracted driving that's cause by fumbling with your phone while driving. The company studied how people tend to use their trucks, the F-150 will be have an available bed-mounted generator for the individuals who must have the capability to export power on the job.

Ford is saving that it's making a big push into the electric vehicle area, including plug-in hybrids for the Bronco, Escape, Explorer, Mustang and F-150. Specially for F-150, the hybrid power train will bring more towing power and low-end torque. All of this will start in 2020 and within two years of that target, there will also be six-battery powered electric vehicles available in showrooms.

Why is Ford doing this? It's rather simple: it wants to help customers get away from the rising gas prices, especially on models where fuel efficiency tends to fall short. By 2020, Ford predicts that its SUV sales will account for 50 percent of global vehicle sales. In addition, within two years, the company will have eight SUVs for sale in total, five of them being hybrids and one will be offered full-electric.
