Facebook apparently blocked a newspaper article about police brutality

According to a New York Daily News article about police brutality on Facebook, you may run into trouble when trying to look for it. Yesterday, Facebook blocked the article from being shared on the platform for much of yesterday afternoon. Some users receive a message that the content has been blocked because it “includes content that other people have reported as abusive.”

We were able to confirm the block with a few sources. Facebook prevented the article from being scraped by the company’s link tools, and stopped the link from being shared altogether. Aside from this, other Daily News articles are unaffected. Here’s what the error message read, indicating spam issues: “Posts that look like spam according to our community guidelines are blocked on Facebook and can’t be shared.”

As of now, the block has been lifted and seemed to only had lasted a few hours.
