After being released by Seahawks, Richard Sherman signs with 49ers

After being released on Friday by the Seahawks, cornerback Richard Sherman has agreed to a three-year contact with the San Francisco 49ers, reports ESPN.

Free-giant cornerback told ESPN’s Josina Anderson on Saturday that the deal is worth up to $39.15 million. After being released on Friday, the 49ers met with Sherman early Saturday and wanted to make sure he’s healing well from a torn Achilles on his right foot and a bone spur on his left. Sherman told Anderson on Friday that he will be back on the treadmill next week.

“I’m thankful to John [Lynch, 49ers GM] and Kyle [Shanahan, 49ers coach] for believing in me,” Sherman told Anderson. “Some smaller details still getting ironed out, but #ShermInTheBay.”

Sherman is one of the most accomplished cornerbacks of his generation, having made four Pro Bowls and named a first-team All-Pro three times during his seven season run with the Seahawks, who originally drafted him in the fifth round in 2011.
