AT&T is changing its unlimited data plan prices

According to Ars Technica, AT&T has decided to change the cost of its single-line, unlimited data plans as of today, while raising and lowering prices for new customers.

The wireless carrier’s Unlimited Choice plan is seeing a price increase to $65 from $60, and its Unlimited Plus Enhanced plan is dropping to $80 from $90. For family plans, the company is increasing the prices by $5.

The company is doing price adjustments with some changes in service. Both plans have existed for nearly a year. Ars reports that the cheaper Unlimited Choice Enhanced plan used to limited internets peeps to 3Mbps and video streaming to 1.5Mbps. The 3Mbps limit doesn’t exist anymore, but customers will see slower speeds if the network is congested. If you’re on their original Unlimited Choice plan, the limit still exists for you.

Unlimited Plus Enhanced customers will experience slower speeds uncertain they’re reached 22GB in a billing cycle. The plan will now allow 15GB of mobile hotspot usage until a tethering speed limit of 12kbps kicks in. These plans can get complicated really quickly, so make sure you’re understanding everything from activation fees to taxes when you sign up for AT&T’s service. The rates will stay the same for existing customers.
