Tesla’s Workplace Charging program will install charging stations at your office

As Tesla continues to build out its charging station network, the company is now ready to take things to a new level as it ships more and more vehicles. The company has initiated another charging program, but for your office.

Tesla has said that it will provide employers and commercial property managers with free Tesla Wall Connectors. As an added bonus, they will install them on company parking lots for free, as long as you apply and qualify for their program.

Tesla’s Destination program installs chargers on restaurant, hotel and report parking lots that anyone is able to use, this Workplace program is more focused on providing charging capabilities for company employees. Per Electrek, people that are employed by the Workplace partner will be able to use the electric chargers provided by Tesla. Don’t expect to see those chargers on your navigation system, if you don’t work for the Workplace partner. This makes sense because the companies themselves have to pay for the electricity that Tesla cars use.

Here’s what Tesla said in a statement to Electrek:

“As Tesla’s fleet continues to grow, it is more important than ever for our customers to be able to easily charge their cars where they park. The most convenient way to charge is to plug in overnight at home, and for most people, this is all that is needed. For others, such as those who live in an apartment, Tesla is introducing its new Workplace Charging program. Charging at work is simple and convenient, just plug in and your car is charged by the time you’re done for the day.

For qualified employers or commercial property managers who choose to provide an EV charging option, Tesla will review, donate their Tesla Wall Connectors and provide installation assistance. Energy costs will be the responsibility of the property.”
