During All-Star Weekend, Joel Embiid apparently told Giannis Antetokounmpo to come play in Philadelphia

Putting aside the fact that Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is still three full seasons away from hitting free agency, Philadelphia 76ers outspoken center Joel Embiid is already poaching Antetokounmpo and trying to recruit him for the 76ers.

During Wednesdays practice sessions, Antetokounmpo revealed that Embiid made a case to Bucks’ MVP candidate during the All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles. “He told me I should trust the process and come play for Philly,” Antetokounmpo said while laughing, per Matt Velazquez of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “That was my reaction—I just laughed.”

If you’re surprised with Embiid making a case to recruit other NBA stars, don’t be. During Kevin Durant’s free agency two years ago, Embiid posted a tweet saying, “Time to RECRUIT KD to the Sixers.”

The 23-year-old Philadelphia 76ers center is having a great season so far with 23.7 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. He’s helped lead the team to a 30-25 start, and the team is on track to make its first postseason appearance since the 2011-2012 season.
