Your unlocked iPhone will now work with Xfinity Mobile

Comcast’s Xfinity Mobile service launched a while ago, but your only options for devices were the ones that Comcast offered. Now, if you have an unlocked iPhone and want to switch, you have the choice of hopping onboard with Xfinity Mobile.

Xfinity Mobile has enabled an in-store Bring Your Own Device option that will allow you to bring your unlocked iPhone to the service, but only “select” iPhone models. Other manufacturer phones will have to wait until later in 2018 to start hopping on Xfinity Mobile.

Should your device not qualify to work on Xfinity Mobile, you can receive a gift card if you trade in a phone, but that also means you will be settling for a phone that is locked. You will also more than likely get less for your device from Comcast than you would if you sell it on the market yourself.

While it’s not expected that Comcast will see a huge influx of people signing up for the service because Americans tend to buy locked phones on contract, Xfinity Mobile is a good option for bundled discounts and by-the-gig rates if you wish to go down that route. There’s also Project Fi from Google if you’re interested in pay-as-you-go type model, but of course, you’ll have to use one of Google’s devices to use the Fi network.
