New leak gives us a better look into Microsoft’s cancelled Surface Mini

Evan Blass, also known as evleaks, published some new images of the cancelled Surface Mini on Twitter. More specifically speaking, he published marketing images of the Surface Mini, showing a red rubber case with a kickstand and full specifications of the device.

According to the leak, Microsoft planned a 7.5-inch device with a 1440 x 1080 display, 1GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor under the hood, and 32GB of storage. In terms of the color selections, the company was planning black, red, and blue variants prior to cancellation.

Microsoft initially planned to reveal the device alongside the Surface Pro 3 back in May 2014, but chose not to. The Surface Mini project was scrapped a few weeks before the Surface Pro 3 announcement.

Codenamed Surface iris, the mini tablet was said to run Windows RT and support the Surface Pen. The company wasn’t seeing much success with Windows RT tablets and it was probably a good idea it cancelled the Surface Mini.
