New report claims iPhone 5S coming in gold, and 128GB storage option

For the first time since changing to the two color option back in iPhone 3G, one analyst claims that Apple will be including a third color option to its iPhone lineup.  The new color option available is rumored to be gold, with coming to a total of three color options in the premium iPhone.

According to a new report by KGI Securities analyst Ming-chi Kuo (via 9to5Mac), who has a good track record with Apple scoop, the Cupertino giant has planned a gold iPhone color option for its customers.  Along with the color, the iPhone will be offered with a new storage option of 128GB.  With the announcement of the iPhone 4S, Apple started to offer the 64GB option and now with the announcement of the iPhone 5S, the company is looking to increase its storage options.

Here is what the analyst stated:

(1) the new A7, ARMv8 based AP (application processor), featuring a 1GB LPDDR3 RAM chip; (2) a sapphire home button with fingerprint  sensor; (3) main camera unchanged with 8MP, but featuring a larger F2.0 aperture with dual flash lights; (4) new option for golden casing; and (5) new option for 128GB storage.

As far as memory goes, it will stay at 1GB RAM, just like the iPhone 5, however it will be improved memory that will be faster:

We reckon A7 will upgrade memory bandwidth spec to LPDDR3 from LPDDR2 adapted by A6, in an effort to improve system performance,” Kuo added. “Since Apple is in charge of both hardware  and OS design, it is capable of minimalizing memory capacity at an optimized state. Therefore, A7’s RAM will likely be unchanged at 1GB.

The iPhone 5S is rumored to feature fingerprint sensor technology, with improved camera and dual-LED flash.  Kuo believes that the iPhone 5S will sell around 35 million units before the end of 2013.  Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 5S/5C on September 10 event.
